Council Elections

The Council is an on-chain representative 13 member body designed to represent passive stakeholders within the xx network.
Every seven days, an election will be held for these seats utilizing the Phragmén election process standard within the Substrate Ecosystem. This election will be based upon those who receive the plurality of coins. Any coins can be used, including those that are bonded for staking, locked, or vesting.
The status of the current election can be checked on the explorer.
Voting in Council Elections
To vote in Council Elections, a coin holder must go to the Governance > Council section of the explorer.
On the top right side, click the "Vote" button.
Within the dialog box, select the account from which to use funds, the total value of your vote, and the candidates you would like to vote for, then click "vote".
In this pane, you can vote for as many candidates as you would like or remove votes for a current candidate.
Submitting Candidacy
To submit candidacy in Council Elections, a coin holder must go to the Governance > Council section of the explorer.
This will bring up a dialog box where you select the account you would like to submit as a candidate and agree to the bond. Click the submit button to complete.
